The Story

We can only wonder at our ancestry. As sure as our heartbeat, each of us holds a direct line to the first of our species. A line that survived millions of years, crossed continents and oceans, explored and settled, fought loved and lived, adapted and evolved, to what we are today. Like a baton in a miraculous relay race, the spark of life passed from one link to the next.

We wouldn’t be here today if our chain had broken even once.

The warps and wefts that constitute the fabric of our being, have been spun from genetic yarns so complex in their blend, that their point of origin can only be speculated. Each of us is a weave with a myriad textures and hues. A tapestry that can never be recreated. A unique individual.

That is not all that we are.

While our moral-intellectual-emotional compass is all our own, we are also shaped by events and experiences. Family and friends. They are special in their composition. Because the law of diversity cannot be wished away. If we could, we would prefer to have clones of ourselves all over the family tree and in our friends circle. As whacky as we are. But that would be dreadful.

Celebrate the diversity. The imperfections. The idiosyncrasies. The disagreements. The emotional cloudbursts. Treasure the scratches and dents, as much as the patterns and embellishments, that we collect as we live. Flaws are what make us human. We are all part of a well-blended fruitcake.
